Wheel of Fortune fans react to contestant's “redemption” return after his explicit viral response

Fans were thrilled when, after its infamous viral moment, Wheel of Fortune brought back a memorable contestant with a chance at redemption.

In May, Tavaris Williams became an internet sensation – and left former host Pat Sajak nearly speechless – when he hilariously guessed “Rite in the Butt” while trying to solve a puzzle.

Now the show gave Tavaris another opportunity on Wednesday, teaming him up with Sajak's daughter Maggie Sajak for a special round of gaming in collaboration with BetMGM.

This time Tavaris managed to solve all of Maggie's Wheel of Fortune puzzles with ease.

“Everyone gets a second chance at @BetMGM!” The Instagram video was captioned. “Tavaris made a splash with his answer in our first BetMGM @WheelOfFortune week, but didn't secure the W. So we brought him back for Round 2 with @maggiesajak! Here's to REDEMPTION!”

Fans flocked to the comments section, rejoicing at the triumphant return of their favorite viral contestant.

“We love Tavaris,” shared one enthusiastic follower, while another commented: “This moment will outlive us all!” “My great-great-grandchildren will know Tavaris.”

“I can't watch anything other than 'RITE IN THE BUTT.'” “Tavaris is the best,” another viewer joked.

Just days after Tavaris' unforgettable blunder, he revealed Pat Sajak's reaction to the mishap off camera.

“He made me feel so good during the break,” Tavaris gushed on the Jimmy Kimmel Show.

“He said, ‘You know, we’ll find a tactful way to work it. I don’t know how, but we will do it.”

Tavaris said he filmed the episode in April and admitted to telling his wife about the moment when he got home.

“I told my wife right after, 'I'm going to keep everything secret except what you need to know about,'” he recalled.

He told his wife that they might “work through” the moment, but he wasn't sure.

“And then it was out of sight, out of mind, until the world reminded me of what I said,” Tavaris said.

Jimmy then jokingly asked the Wheel candidate if “right in the ass” was a phrase he used frequently.

“I've never used those words in consecutive order in my life, Jimmy,” the participant replied with a serious face.

Tavaris won $9,500 on the show and said he is now: “Spread lots of smiles around the world.”

The May 23 episode of the long-running game show featured Tavaris stopping by to guess a “Phrase” puzzle.

This occurred during an early $1,000 toss round where random letters appear and participants must participate to solve the puzzle.

The letters displayed were I in the second word, T and E in the third, and B, T, and an exclamation point in the fourth.

Tavaris chimed in and typed, “Right in the ass,” causing the audience to gasp and laugh, while another attendee exclaimed, “What?”

His eyes widened as he put the buzzer away while others in the audience continued to laugh, especially since “correct” is five letters and the first word in the puzzle is only four letters.

Luckily, another participant, Blake, had the right answer: “That’s the best.”

Tavaris clapped, turned to Blake and joked, “Much better answer,” as the game continued.

When it came time for Pat to introduce the players, he was still giggling at Tavaris' inappropriate response.

“Well, Tavaris, you've already impressed us,” Pat said as the contestant apologized.

“I'm sorry, Pat.” “I was a little upset,” Tavaris said, and the longtime host added, “We'll find a way to handle this tastefully.” I have no idea what that will be, but …'

In June, 77-year-old Sajak said goodbye to Wheel of Fortune after 43 years of hosting the game show.

Ryan Seacrest replaced him and stars on the show alongside Pat's longtime co-host Vanna White.
