The search for the pirate Blackbeard's lost treasure is on. Netflixs Outer Banks is back for its fourth season and delivers many dramatic and breathtaking moments in the first five episodes. Season 3 ended with an 18-month time jump after the Pogues successfully discovered the gold in El Dorado. While they were still dealing with the deaths of Ward (Charles Esten) and Big John (Charles Halford), they were approached by Wes Genrette (David Jensen), who made them an offer to help find Blackbeard's treasure.

Meanwhile, season four begins by taking viewers back to the events leading up to this moment. The Pogues have created a safe haven, “Poguelandia 2.0,” where they run a bait, fishing and charter tour shop – and they're swimming in money.

But as show co-creator Josh Pate told TVLine, John B. & Co. are “kids and sometimes fools, so they don't manage their money very well. They also shoot themselves in the foot a little bit.”

“JJ with money is like a kid who's never been able to get candy his entire life and was given a Red Bull,” his portrayer Rudy Pankow told the website, adding that it didn't take long for the “Most Likely to “Go Rogue Pogue” starts spinning. “It’s out there just bouncing off walls.”

Eventually, the crew experiences financial setbacks, leading to John B, Sarah, Kiara, JJ, Pope and Cleo accepting Wes' offer, “and getting sucked back into the 'G' game for a whole new adventure.” Here are the last five Outer Banks The fourth season episodes will land on Netflix.

While the previous three seasons also consisted of 10 episodes, this is the first time that the series will follow Netflix's two-part release strategy, similar to other series like Emily in Paris, Bridgerton, Stranger ThingsAnd The Witcher.

What happened in the end Outer Banks Season 4, Part 1?

In the finale of Part 1, most of the crew – except JJ and Kiara – head to Charleston in search of the blue crown. However, they are not the only ones on the hunt; Lightner and his boss Dalia are also lurking in the shadows and trying to find clues.

Pope and Sarah volunteer to go into the catacombs, but Lightner and Dalia reach the tombs first and steal a scroll hidden there. While the villains manage to escape, Pope and Sarah aren't so lucky; The last time viewers see them in Part 1, they are trapped underground as the crypt fills with floodwaters from a nasty storm brewing above them.

Meanwhile, Cleo and John B are unable to stop Lightner and Dalia as they emerge from the graves. John B experiences flashbacks of his late father killing Singh's men, and he has one when he tries to shoot Lightner.

Back at the OBX, JJ has a heartfelt moment with his estranged father, Luke. In Episode 2, Wes Genrette wrote a letter to “Master JJ Maybank” advising JJ to ask his father about the meaning of “Albatross” in case something bad happened.

When JJ presses him on the meaning of the word, Luke reveals to JJ that “Albatross” is the name of the boat that Larissa Genrette died on years ago. He also reveals that he is not JJ's biological father and that the woman JJ believed was his mother was just one of Luke's friends.

What does it all mean? This means that Larissa is actually JJ's real mother, making Wes his grandfather and Chandler Groff his biological father. Essentially, JJ comes from one of the things he despises the most – a Kook.

Additionally, JJ's rumored father makes a surprise appearance alongside Hollis Robinson at the end of Episode 5. It appears that he is working closely with the local real estate agent who has been trying to purchase the Genlette property throughout the first part with the assistance of Rafe Cameron.
