Trevor Lawrence contract details

Lawrence signed a five-year, $275 million contract ahead of the 2024 NFL season. Below is a breakdown of the deal's basics, according to Spotrac.com.

  • Expression: 5 years
  • Total value: $275 million
  • Average Annual Value (AAV): $55 million
  • Guaranteed money: $200 million

Lawrence's new contract made him the second-highest paid player in the NFL in both total contract value and AAV, an honor he will share with Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow during the 2024 season. The two quarterbacks have nearly identical contracts, as both make $275 million and have $55 million in AAV.

The only difference between them? Lawrence's deal includes a total of $200 million in guarantees, while Burrows has $219.01 million.

Who is the highest paid NFL quarterback?

Dak Prescott is currently the highest-paid NFL quarterback based on AAV. On the eve of the 2024 NFL season, he signed a four-year, $240 million contract extension with the Dallas Cowboys to overtake Lawrence and Burrow at the top spot.

Prescott also has the most guaranteed money in his contract among quarterbacks. A whopping $231 million of his deal is guaranteed, surpassing Deshaun Watson's previous record of $230 million on his infamous fully guaranteed deal.

However, Prescott's contract is not the NFL's largest contract overall. That honor goes to Patrick Mahomes, who is set to earn $450 million under the 10-year deal he signed with the team in 2020.

However, it's worth noting that Mahomes restructured his $450 million contract to have a total guaranteed value of $208.1 million through the 2023-26 NFL seasons. The two teams will revisit the deal after the 2026 season, making it likely that Mahomes' actual AAV will end up being above the official listing of $45 million.
