While all eyes are on Florida's west coast ahead of Hurricane Milton's arrival, something could be brewing on the eastern side of the peninsula.

The National Hurricane Center has delineated an area of possible tropical development off the southeast coast of Florida and designated the disturbance Invest 93L.

The area currently has a medium chance of tropical development over the next 48 hours, and the timing will be crucial in whether anything forms.

“Although environmental conditions appear only marginally favorable for further development, a short-lived tropical or subtropical storm could form today or this evening as the low moves northeast to east-northeast at about 15 mph,” the NHC said Wednesday morning. “Upper level winds are forecast to increase throughout the night, which should limit the chances for further development.”

If a tropical cyclone were to form, it would be named Nadine.
