Whoopi Goldberg says Trump's town hall music 'freaked her out': 'Really upset me'

“The View” host Whoopi Goldberg said Tuesday that former President Donald Trump's decision to play music during a town hall event on Monday “freaked her out.”

Trump directed organizers of the event in Oaks, Pennsylvania, to play several classical and contemporary songs during breaks to appeal to people with medical problems. Goldberg claimed “this should really scare everyone” and criticized Trump for playing music instead of discussing “everything that's going on in the world.”

That scared me. He scared me a lot, but that really upset me,” she added.

Her co-host Sunny Hostin said Trump lacked empathy while playing the songs.

“Instead of maybe checking on them like someone with empathy would or doing something, he decides to go along with it,” she said.

First responders tended to the two people with medical issues on Monday, while the former president encouraged everyone involved. Hostin said Trump could have used the situation to discuss issues such as health care and climate change, explaining that the event was heated.

“Instead of – and this is because it was very hot there – instead of maybe addressing the issue of climate change, you know, why it's so hot right now, instead of maybe saying something like health care, something about health care, because people are falling in a swoon, he didn’t do any of that,” she noted.

The former president also danced to the music during the music, which co-host Joy Behar criticized.

“He opens things up for questions and answers – the audience can ask him questions. He has no answers. So he welcomes it,” she said.

I mean, the guy basically doesn't know the difference between a rally or whatever that was and 'Dancing with the Stars,'” Behar continued.

The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the criticism. Steven Cheung, a spokesman for the campaign, posted on social media that the town hall was a “total lovefest.”

“Everyone was so excited they passed out, so @realDonaldTrump turned to music,” Cheung said wrote on X. “No one wanted to go and listen to more songs from the famous DJT Spotify playlist!”
