Why Howard Stern “Hates” Maya Rudolph’s Harris Impression

Although Kamala Harris has nothing but praise for Maya Rudolph's spot-on impression of her Saturday Night LiveHoward Stern is not a fan of this part.

“I hate it,” the radio host told Harris during her visit The Howard Stern Show on Tuesday. “I don’t want people to make fun of you,” Stern said, because “there’s too much at stake.”

Harris stopped by Stern's show this week as part of her media campaign during the final election period, which included a visit The view earlier in the day. During that interview, Harris was shown a snippet of Rudolph's impression that she hadn't seen before, and she praised the comedian for having “the suit, the jewelry, everything – the mannerisms,” adding, “She is so good.”

Harris had the same thing to say when she later visited Stern's show. “(The impression) was funny,” she said, “I'm a big fan of Maya Rudolph, so I think she put a lot of time into the play and the character.”

Their opinion was little swayed by Stern, who worried loudly that “making fun of the vice president” could turn off voters and tip the election outcome in favor of Donald Trump. “I believe the entire future of this country is literally at stake now,” he said.

Harris' visit to Stern's show covered many of the same topics as her previous appearances, but Stern managed to glean some new information about the vice president's taste in music venues. He opened the show by playing Prince hits, as Harris is a big fan – and in return she gave him a little venue tip after sharing that she saw U2 at the immersive dome space The Sphere in Las Vegas. Stern said he was “troubled” by The Sphere.

“Well, let me just say, basically everyone should go in with a clear head,” Harris said.

“Isn’t that too much?” asked Stern.

“That’s why I say this,” Harris continued. “It's a lot. A lot of visual simulation,” she added. “Make sure you go in and-” Stern interrupted her thought, “Don’t get high.”

Harris laughed. “Correct.”
