Will it ever be fall? Utahns wait and wait for temperatures to drop

SALT LAKE CITY — Friday was very similar to the day and weeks before, the calendar showed October, but the weather didn't feel like fall in Salt Lake City.

The sun was blazing and sweaters remained tucked away as people expressed mixed feelings about the delayed weather change.

“I wish it was a little cooler to get more into the season and get ready for it,” said Jaelyn Kerr, who lives in Bountiful.

Salt Lake City International Airport reached a high of 88 degrees Friday, breaking the record set in 1996.

“It's obviously not a good thing that it's probably so hot, but I'm enjoying it,” said Ericah Lage, who has lived in the Salt Lake Valley her whole life.

Let's put it this way: With these warmer temperatures, some houses are split.

“But it’s wonderful,” LuAnn Abeyta said.

“I don’t like it,” Dianne Abeyta replied.

“I'm not a big fan of it, I definitely love the cool weather. That’s why I miss what Utah used to be,” said Annie Madsen.

People are enjoying what could be the last warm weekend of the year as temperatures are expected to drop significantly next week.

“I just love seeing my kids having fun,” Lage said. “I’m having a good time.”
