With the Castlevania DLC expansion, Vampire Survivors has come full circle

The world of Dracula and the Belmont family is approaching Vampire survivors. The newly announced downloadable content for the car shooter survival game, Ode to Castlevaniapromises a lot of new things: 20 characters, 40 weapons, an extra-large stage and over 30 music tracks. Developer Poncle said in his announcement post

The new Vampire survivors The DLC will be released on October 31st for PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, PlayStation, Android and iOS. You can also track the release using a cheesy '90s countdown timer site set up by the developer. (Be sure to check your speaker volume before you visit as a short loop of some of the great new music will automatically play.)

That's a lot of Belmonts and friends.

Vampire survivors was first published in 2021 Castlevania-inspired sprite art that the developer acquired from an asset pack, but now the game has come full circle through a collaboration with Konami. Konami seems to love licensing its franchises in recent years Vampire survivors had one Cons-Thematic collaboration earlier this year, and the Castlevania franchise was used in the critically acclaimed series Evil Empire Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania Extension.

Vampire survivors has been receiving regular free and paid updates for years, and the game has expanded to include new characters, levels, achievements, unlockables, and new modes such as local co-op. Since Valve began tracking the games that consume the most play time on its handheld, the game has consistently featured in Steam Deck's most played lists.
