It wasn't long ago that Warren Zeiders released his latest record: relapsea late summer release in which the artist reflects on addiction, pain and a past full of missteps but a future full of hope. The Pretty Little Poison star has already started treating fans to even more new music. This time it's just as personal.

His latest work is “You For A Reason,” a deceptively endearing ballad that actually carries a rather melancholy truth: all good things must come to an end.

“You For A Reason” has that soulful country sound throughout the track, full of moaning steel and mournful guitar. The dark melody builds, the first strings are soon overlaid by thundering drums and Zeiders' earth-shattering vocals to create a farewell song that hits the pit of your stomach.

“These winters will wear a cowboy
And there's only so much you can do
I was lonely as leaves when the trees laid them down
Until I looked up and looked at you.

“You For A Reason” finds the artist at a cold, bleak time in his life – lost, lonely and searching for a light in the darkness. At the end of the first verse he seems to have found some peace with a woman.

He experienced a time in his life when he… “needed a woman to hold me / an angel to recognize me.” That's exactly what he found.

In this way, “You For A Reason” is a beautiful and heartwarming ballad. That is, until the truth comes out. He sings: “Girl, even if it was just for a season / It was you for a reason.

In other words, the comfort he found in this person was temporary, but her presence had a purpose.

“No one else would have heard it
The song I carried in my heart
I didn't know what I needed
But you knew it from the beginning”

If only for a moment, he found someone who understood him, who listened to him and made him feel seen. Even if the relationship didn't last, he'll likely always remember her support and the temporary relief it gave her.

Not everything is meant to last – and as the old saying goes, all good things must come to an end – but hopefully they come with a lesson that lasts.

“I needed a woman to hold me
An angel who knows me
Girls, even if it was just for a season
It was you for a reason
It was you for a reason.”

What did Warren Zeiders say about “You For A Reason”?

“I wrote this song over a year ago about a girl who came into my life and changed it for the better,” Zeiders shared the new track in a social media post. “She pushed me to better myself as a man in my everyday life and in my career. Things didn't end the way we had hoped, but I wouldn't change it for anything. She just came into my life for a season, but she was there for a reason.

These winters will wear a cowboy
And there's only so much you can do
I was lonely as leaves when the trees laid them down
Until I looked up and saw you

I needed a woman to hold me
An angel who knows me
Girls, even if it was just for a season
It was you for a reason

No one else would have heard it
The song I carried in my heart
I didn't know what I needed
But you knew it from the start

I needed a woman to hold me
An angel who knows me
Girls, even if it was just for a season
It was you for a reason
Oh, you were for a reason

I needed a woman to hold me
An angel who knows me
Girls, even if it was just for a season
It was you for a reason
It was you for a reason
